Custom Tins

Alongside standard items, we manufacture customer-specific bakeware for production needs that do not fit off-the-shelf formats. Our custom work focuses on size, shape, quantity and repeatability.

Custom Tins

Custom bakeware made for your production line

Alongside standard bread pans and trays, we make customer-specific bakeware for bakeries that need a different length, width, depth or finish. Some customers need a tin to suit an existing oven rack, others need a new format for a product line that has changed over time. We work from a sample, a sketch, a measurement sheet or an approved reference piece, then build for repeatable use.

Our custom tins are used across Johannesburg South, Alberton, Germiston, Boksburg, Soweto and Midrand. The aim is simple: get the dimensions right, keep the batch consistent, and make sure the item performs under daily bakery conditions, including heat cycles, cleaning and transport between prep and bake areas.

How to choose the right custom tin

Start with the product and the oven, then work backwards. If the tin is too tight, dough marks badly and release becomes difficult. If it is too loose, you lose shape and the batch looks uneven. We help with size matching and pan copying where needed, and can also advise on lid fit, stack height and handling.

  • Product type: bread, rolls, specialty loaves, proofing trays or display bakeware
  • Measured size: internal size, external size and depth in millimetres
  • Material and gauge: standard or heavier gauge for tougher use
  • Finish: plain, perforated or with formed details
  • Quantity: single prototype, batch order or repeat production

Size matching, pan copying and repeat orders

Many bakeries bring in an old tin that has worked well for years, but is dented, warped or no longer available. We can use that as the basis for a new run and keep the useful dimensions intact. This is common where a business has expanded into Germiston, Boksburg or Soweto and needs the same baking result across more than one site.

Because repeatability matters, we keep the measurements and build notes together so future orders match the approved sample. That saves time when you need batch reorders and helps avoid small differences that can affect loaf height, crust colour or release. For production teams working under load-shedding schedules, consistency matters even more because there is less room for trial and error.

Options for heavier use and special handling

Not every bakery needs the same level of wear resistance. Some tins run several cycles a day, while others are used for test runs or seasonal products. We can make heavy gauge builds where the work calls for it, and we also manufacture divider inserts, lids and related parts when the full setup needs to stay matched.

  • Heavy gauge builds for frequent handling
  • Lid fitting for covered baking or storage
  • Divider inserts for shaped portions
  • Tray perforating for airflow and crust development
  • Baguette forming for long, narrow products

Prototype runs for new products and bakery trials

If you are launching a new loaf, roll or specialty item, a small prototype run can save a lot of time. It lets your team check dough behaviour, oven spring, release and packing before you place a larger order. We often do this for bakeries testing new items in Alrode and the wider Gauteng area, especially where the recipe is ready but the tin size still needs work.

Factory consultations can be arranged when the job needs more than one measurement. That is useful when the product must suit an existing rack, trolley, proofing area or dispatch system. We keep the process practical, no fuss, and make sure the finished item suits the way your bakery actually operates.

Why local manufacturing helps in Gauteng

Custom tins made locally are easier to check, adjust and reorder. When a bakery is dealing with municipal waste rules, heat, humidity near the coast or power interruptions inland, it helps to work with a supplier that understands daily production pressure. A tray or pan that fits properly also reduces handling damage and keeps workflow steadier in busy shifts.

Our base in Alrode places us close to the main industrial routes in Johannesburg South, which helps with collection, dispatch and follow-up on repeat orders. If you need a single sample or a regular production run, we can keep the specs on file and build from there.

Questions we get asked

Can you make a custom tin from an old sample?

Yes. We can work from an existing pan or tray and copy the usable measurements, then make adjustments if the original needs to be improved for fit or durability.

Do you do small prototype quantities?

Yes. Prototype runs are useful when you are testing a new product or checking fit before a larger batch order.

Can you add lids or dividers to custom tins?

Yes. We manufacture lids, divider inserts and related bakeware parts when the full setup needs to match your production process.
